I think I may have come up with the perfect warming winter drink! It was certainly the perfect thing for me this afternoon as I watched the snow blow down the streets and swirl in clouds off the rooftops. A good day to stay out of the weather, hire the neighbor kid to shovel the sidewalks, and park on the couch with the dogs and a huge mug of chai cocoa.

You’ll want to use a big mug, one you have to hold with both hands, to get the maximum heat possible from this drink.
Ingredients:
1 c milk
1 c water
1 tsp chai spice
1 tsp (or more, to taste) unsweetened cocoa
1/2 tsp (or more, to taste) vanilla powder
Agave syrup, to taste
I mixed the spices with the agave syrup into a smooth paste (they tend to float otherwise), then added the hot milk/water mixture. And a shot of half-and-half because it was a tad too hot. 😉
The key to this drink is the chai spice.
This stuff packs a nice warm wallop–you feel the burn, in a good way. Combined with chocolate and vanilla, there is just no going wrong. Let’s hear it for snow days!
