I made some progress today toward commercializing Shaw Pro Photo. I did secure a post office box, and subsequently registered the business name with the state. My new bank accounts are all in order, so buying equipment will be the next thing to do (the best part!).
But, somewhere in there, I am going to have to change the name of this blog to something not related to my new little business. If any of you Word Pressers out there have ever changed a blog name and can offer me any insights on how that works or advice on how to make it go smoothly, I’d sure love to hear it. I would particularly like to know whether all the links in my previous posts will still work properly. I’ve published more than 100 posts now (113, to be exact), and I don’t want all that work to be lost. At the same time, I don’t want my future photo customers to find only this blog when they look for me online. Probably should have thought it through a bit more before choosing the name, but I didn’t initially know exactly where I was going with this and I had to start somewhere.
It’s been 20 years since I started a business, and although the steps I need to take to do it now are pretty much the same, I have forgotten so much since then that it feels as if I’m doing everything for the first time, which is always scary. So I’m trying to take it slowly and not tackle too much all at once and freak myself out.
Just take them one by one …
